MONICA SJÖÖ – THE TIME IS NOW AND IT IS OVERDUE!

Beaconsfield Gallery Vauxhall
11 June – 10 September 2022

This collaboration between Beaconsfield, Feminist Library and the Estate of Monica Sjöö, brings Sjöö’s life and work into fresh focus with a largely unseen corpus of paintings. The unapologetic figuration of artist and activist Monica Sjöö (1938-2005) predates contemporary articulations of an Ecofeminism that regards climate crisis, colonialism and ever-present militarism as interlocking systems of oppression.

The exhibition runs from the 11th June until 10th September 2022.

During the show the curatorial team has invited a selection of artists who have an affinity to Monica’s work and life outlook.
